Mission Statement

The Mission of School Nine is to provide a positive environment in which students are eager to explore and to learn so that they may develop into active, participating and productive citizens in compliance with the goals of the New Jersey Common Core and the Belleville School District’s curriculum. For we are all students our entire lives!
As we celebrate cultural diversity, we look to students, staff, parents, and community leaders to foster the responsibility of student growth and development with the School Nine learning community. We will continue to strive for excellence as well as impart our belief in life-long learning!
“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.”

School Number Nine teachers will collaborate each trimester in grade level teams to assess interdisciplinary written assignments.
Rationale/Sources of Evidence:
A school-wide writing plan is an essential blueprint for improving student achievement. An effective plan requires the skillful use of data about student performance, literacy needs and expectations in the school and community, school capacity to support literacy development, current teaching practices, and effectiveness of the writing program. To generate change, teachers must actively use a school-wide writing plan to guide decision making around instruction, programming, and resource allocation.
