I am so excited to announce our Classroom Elf came today!  We've been waiting for her since the Kindergarten Elf and the Second Grade Elf already came.  Our silly elf was lost in the candy cane forest! The students all got to hug her once and now they are not allowed to touch her or she will lose her magic.  We all voted and we named her Snowflake.  We can wave to Snowflake, say hello and tell her our wishes!

I would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you all get to spend some quality time with your loved ones.

Good Afternoon.
We had so much fun at Fairfield Farms today!  The students were so good!
We heard a scarecrow story, found our way through a corn maze, took a hayride to pick our pumpkins, ran through a spiderweb maze, followed by climbing on haystack and sliding down slides.  We walked over to see the goats and ducks. Finally, we went to The Black Crow Challenge.  Last we ate our lunches and headed back to Belleville.
I posted some pictures from our trip.  Look in photo album to the right of this page.
Thank you so much to Ms. Thomas for coming with us on our trip!

October is Fire Prevention Month!  We had a visit from the Belleville Fire department today.  The students were able to check out the firetruck.
Some fire safety reminders:
  • Check smoke alarms!  Make sure you have smoke detectors and change the batteries 2 times a year.
  • Have a family meeting place in case of a fire!
  • stop, drop and roll if your clothes are on fire.

Good Afternoon!
Today we had an assembly by Mr. Brooks and the Passaic Valley Sanitation Community.  We learned about the Passaic River and all the efforts that go into cleaning the river.  This assembly is very interesting and the students are able to connect because our school is close to the Passaic River. We also saw video of the Patterson Falls!

Good Afternoon,
  • Red Test folders were sent home on Friday.  Please sign the tests and return them in the red folder if you have not done so already.
  • The students have a leveled book to read to someone at home tonight.  Please have them read the story and bring back the book tomorrow.
  • Class trip permission slips and money are due on Monday, October 15.

Today we had a great assembly on walking safety.  The students learned about crossing a street safely and where to cross streets. Due to the assembly we did not complete our Math lesson so there is no math homework tonight.

This week is the "week of respect".  We will be talking about our character to help prevent harassment, intimation or bullying!  In school the class will listen to stories and discuss ways to be a good friend and how to help "Stomp out Bullying".  Please discuss this topic at home with your children.
Monday: "Blue Shirt Day" World Day of bullying prevention
Tuesday: wear sunglasses "It's Cool to Care"
Wednesday: Wear team clothes/jersey  "Team Up Against Bullying"
Thursday: Wear silly or miss-matched socks "Sock it to Bullying"
Friday: Wear school colors "School Spirit"

Due to back to school night tonight there will be no homework.
I hope to see all of you here at 6:00 for Back to School Night!

Hi!  The first week has been a great one!
This is a friendly reminder that our Back to School Night is Monday, September 17th.  I am looking forward to seeing you all!
Please remember to check your child's green homework folder every night.  It will have their homework and any important notes or information.
